Delete my account

You can delete your LawPal account and its associated data at any time. This page explains the two ways to do it and what happens afterwards.

Option 1 — In the LawPal app

  1. Open LawPal on your phone or tablet.
  2. Tap the menu → SettingsSecurity.
  3. Tap Delete Account, type DELETE to confirm, then tap Delete account.

Icon reference: Settings lives behind the gear icon in the top-right of the main screen.

Option 2 — On the web

If you've signed in at lawpal.tech/sign-in, go to lawpal.tech/settings/delete-account and follow the confirmation prompt.

Option 3 — Request by email

If you can't sign in (e.g. you've uninstalled the app or lost access to your phone), email grievance@lawpal.tech from the address you registered with and include:

  • Your full name
  • The email address or phone number on your account
  • The name of your firm (if you remember it)

We'll verify your identity from the registered contact details and complete the deletion within 7 working days under India's DPDP Act. You'll receive an email confirmation once it's done.

What gets deleted

  • Your LawPal account (sign-in, profile, preferences, 2FA devices).
  • Your private data — direct messages, notification settings, saved filters, API keys.
  • Your firm — if you're the only member. The firm's cases, documents, payments, tasks, and conversations are deleted with it.

What stays

  • Posts, replies, and messages you sent to group conversations or the open channel remain visible to other participants, but are re-labelled as from “Deleted user”.
  • If you're not the sole admin of your firm, the firm and its data stay. Your colleagues continue to have access.
  • Minimum records we're required to keep for regulatory / tax reasons (invoice history, audit logs relevant to financial compliance) are retained for the statutory retention period, then deleted. Authorship on those records is anonymised.

If you're the only admin of your firm

LawPal will refuse to delete your account until you either:

  • Promote another member to admin (Office → Team → change role), then come back and retry, or
  • Remove all other members from the firm first — then the firm will be deleted with your account.

This prevents a firm from being accidentally orphaned with no-one able to administer it.

Export your data first

Deletion is permanent and unrecoverable. If you want a copy of your LawPal data, open the mobile app → Settings → Security → Export My Data before you delete.
